Dodgeball Drama: The Trust Games Heat Up!
Last night, our Year 3 and 4 pupils had a fantastic experience taking part in the second round of this year’s Trust Games, hosted by Saint George’s School. The Trust Dodgeball Event was full of energy, excitement, and friendly competition, with 11 schools and 110 pupils coming together from across the Trust.
Our pupils approached the event with a mix of excitement and nerves. As our SENDCo/PE lead, Miss Harper, noted, some of the children were initially apprehensive about taking part, unsure of what to expect. By the end of the evening, however, every pupil was fully engaged, smiling, cheering, and clearly loving every moment of the dodgeball action. It was inspiring to see even the most hesitant children asking if they could join in next time!
The competition itself was intense, with two separate three-way ties during the group stages, which led to sudden-death round-robin play-offs – thrilling moments for players and spectators alike. Throughout the event, our pupils displayed wonderful sportsmanship and teamwork, proudly representing Horton Kirby School.
We are delighted with the final standings, where Horton Kirby finished 4th:
Sedley’s
Halling
Sutton-at-Hone
Horton Kirby
Cliffe Woods
St Botolph’s
Shorne
Stone St Mary’s
Saint George’s
Holy Trinity
Rosherville
Our pupils are already buzzing with excitement for the next Trust Games event – the Basketball Event for Years 5 and 6 on 26th January 2026. It’s wonderful to see how these events help children overcome nerves, build confidence, and enjoy teamwork.
Well done to all our pupils – you represented Horton Kirby brilliantly!
