Welcome to Fir Class (Year 2)

In Fir class, we work as a team. We use Kagan’s strategies to support each other and to further our understanding of our learning. This means we can be seen walking around to music and when the music stops we will be sharing our ideas. We may also be seen working with a shoulder partner or a face partner to really discuss and solve a problem.

Year 2 has the job of performing the Christmas play. We are able to develop our acting skills and show our parents a play that we have worked hard, as a team, to perform.

In Year 2, we have a superhero reward chart. The idea is to work your way along the chart from ‘Ready to Fly’ to ‘Superhero Status’. If you get to the end, you receive a certificate and gift to take home.

We look forward to welcoming you into Fir Class!

Timetable

Our timetable can be downloaded below. Here, parents and pupils have the opportunity to view the class schedule to see the day-to-day routine including the range of curriculum that is covered. We have found that children with SEND have responded well to visually seeing the structure of the day ahead.

Please try to read with your child regularly. Homework is weekly spellings, using our Spelling Shed website. There will also be the 2, 3, 5 and 10 times tables to learn as the year goes on. You will also be given a password for Times Tables Rockstars where your child can practice these tables through challenges and games.
