Fantastic Four! Horton Kirby Secures Top Four Finish 🏆

Horton Kirby C of E Primary School proudly joined 13 other Trust schools in this year’s annual Trust Football Tournament, with seven determined Year 3 and 4 pupils representing the school brilliantly throughout the day.

The team opened the tournament with a hard-fought 0–0 draw against Halling, showing strong defensive organisation and teamwork from the very start. Confidence continued to grow in the second match as Horton Kirby secured a fantastic 1–0 victory over St George’s, thanks to an excellent goal from Noah G.

Momentum carried into the next game with an impressive 3–0 win against Sutton. Eve scored a superb brace, while Noah G added another goal to cap off an outstanding team performance.

The following match saw Horton Kirby battle to another victory, beating Stone St Mary’s 1–0. Freddie, our goalkeeper, scored the decisive goal, brilliantly followed up and seen in by Noah M.

The final game ended in a draw, leading to a tense penalty shootout. Noah M calmly secured a stunning strike, Freddie was unlucky to hit the post, and Eve made a fantastic attempt. Despite narrowly missing out in the shootout, the team finished an outstanding 4th place out of 13 schools — a fantastic achievement.

Every player contributed enormously throughout the tournament and demonstrated exceptional quality both on and off the pitch. Noah G showed great skill and composure, holding the ball up brilliantly during attacking phases. Noah M’s quick feet and determination created numerous chances, while Austin danced around defenders with confidence and success. Nancy was a defensive powerhouse, protecting Freddie superbly throughout the day. Freddie produced a number of quality saves and displayed excellent distribution from goal. Lola impressed with her technical footwork and clever turns, and Eve showed incredible strength and shielding ability to retain possession under pressure.

The entire team represented Horton Kirby with pride, determination, and excellent sportsmanship. A truly fantastic team effort and one Coach Harper (and our Special Guest Coach Dahmen) are extremely proud of!

As always, a huge THANK YOU goes to our wonderful parents for their continued support in transporting the children to and from events, and to the parents and siblings who cheered the team on so enthusiastically throughout the day. Your encouragement and support makes such a difference to our children and are greatly appreciated!
